This traditional French living space has wonderful stone walls creating the right ambience for whatever time of year. Windows facing east and west render the room bright and airy, without the intense heat of direct midday sunshine in summer, whilst allowing for morning and evening sun casting a glow in winter.
The wood-burning Italian-made cuisinière, with two ovens and a hotplate covering the top surface, heats the space, and air pipes above direct heat to the upstairs bedrooms. All wood is cut from the property, the old woodland is allowed to regenerate, hence an ongoing supply.
The utility room is accessed from this room, and has space for washing machine, tumble drier and storage.
The stairs are at the end of the room, opposite the small library.
